AMERICANS declaration of independence?
I have to write an essay for my history class. and I am extremely stuck.
What would be a good hook and thesis for my essay about:
Have Americans lived up to the ideals expressed in the Declaration of independence?
I have written
America said “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” According to history from the past and present, that statement is false. I believe that we the people of the United States of America have not lived up to the ideals expressed in the Declaration of Independence
but its sounds very boring and i am suppose to make it more exciting i guess.
There is still a great deal of inequality in this country. We are not all “endowed…with certain unalienable rights”. Especially considering Gay rights, immigrants, etc. There is also the fact that we are not a “Libertarian” society. We are a Republic, which is what the founding fathers created but were incorrect saying we have “liberty”.
