Mouse Friends

How is it that my friend can move my mouse on my computer without his presence in my house?
I had a problem with my computer, so like many of us, we call our friends for help. He asked me a few questions about my computer then suddenly he giggled and my mouse arrow on my computer started to move. I asked him how did he do that. He laughed then said he can not tell me how? How is this possible? I would like to know how to myself. I am very grateful that he fixed my computer, but How can this be accomplished?
To stop him simply turn off remote assistance by going to the control panel > system > remote > untick box
