Why do some rocks have different color bands in and what are the bands?
My brother and niece just find this really cool rock in the yard it broke and there are lots of bright blue and red and orange bands within ETC …. anyone? We are in the north-western Louisiana, if that helps ….. Thank you!
Usually layers of different minerals. You can choose between different layers of mud settle on the seabed. You can choose from a layer of rock to wash soluble and is replaced by something else. Most of the alluvial soils of Louisiana, it is not even Rock. The rock probably came from elsewhere. Maybe you have some natural sedimentary rock. Check your library for books on Louisiana Geology. PS: I was born and raised in New Orleans.
