Card Party
Has anyone heard of a “gift card only” birthday party?
I have 3 kids, which are 3 years apart and they were all born in the same month.This is my youngest son’s 1st bday and I’m thinking of making a gift card party so the guest would only have to buy one gift card instead of 3 gifts. How does that sound? Has anyone heard of it or done it before?
Most of my family lives in a different state and it’s often hard for them to mail the gifts so I think a gift card would be better for them. What would be good party themes? Its 2 boys(7 and 1) and 1 girl (4).I just don’t want to make 3 seperate parties the same month. Should I do the boys a month early like at the bowling alley and the girl the following month at McDonald’s?
I wouldn’t dictate to the guests they way they should make a gift. That’s as bad as asking for money! Instead, just let people who have a hard time buying a gift think of the gift card idea themselves. It’s up to the giver to make that decision or else it’s not a gift – just a ‘gimme’ request from you!
There are people who wouldn’t want to lay out money for 3 gifts and look cheesey because they picked a paltry amount. When you have to buy (and no one HAS to give a gift), you have some leeway if you can make decsions and buy discounted items that are still nice. Let people be creative. And for God’s sake, don’t end up sounding like you’re demanding gifts.
