Button Pins
Audio output pins on CDROM useless without a Play button??
Older drives used to come with a audio jack and audio output pins on the rear along with play fwd/rew buttons on CDROM drives to play audio cds. Now the newer drives do not have a play button. Then whats the use of the audio output pins?
Theres not really much use for them now. Along time ago (the late 90′s) we had to use IRQ’s for addressing hardware. Using these pins you could connect directly to a sound card and select that on the sound mixer on windows 95 and 98. Irqs were hard to deal with and direct connection was easier. Also if you have multiple devices pluged in you had direct control for that specific device. I hope that answers your question
