How to make a big drum from 55 gal blue plastic rain barrel?
I was at a big tam-tam and someone had a bass drum made from one of those blue barrels that people use for rainwater.
I beleive it was sitting right on the ground while he played it. he was using mallets. It had a very deep, loud, yet muffled sound. How did he make it? Is is as simple as putting a lid on it? Any tips or other ideas for home made big and loud drums?
I would have asked him myself but I was in a trance drumming and watching the sun rise, and so was he! lol!
Asking would have meant I stop drumming, and go interupt him from drumming. We had been drumming the sun up for a long time so it would have ruined the experience for the 2 of us!
Pretty much. If you ever saw Stomp! or Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk; that’s what they do. Next time ask! Most percussionists are more than happy to steer you in the right direction.
