Tips And Ideas For A Successful Children’s Birthday Party

For kids, it’s a dream come true!
Friends, presents, a birthday cake, blowing out the candles, making a wish… and then – all of a sudden – it’s all gone! The guests go home, the rest of the cake is stored in the fridge, the presents are all opened and the wish is long expressed… now what? – For certain kids, the answer is: weeping.
How can we prevent this disappointment-following-an-over-excitement? Here’s an idea: a post-birthday celebration!
Let the birthday kid know in advance that the birthday celebration will be followed by a post-party party (state exactly when), in any way that suits you. For instance:
- Delaying opening the presents to the next day, or even opening a small number of presents each day during several days, instead of opening them all at the end of the party.
- A festive meal: light a new candle on a slice of the remaining cake; decorate the table with candles; hang balloons; order in… – whatever makes this meal stand out for you.
- Play a special game or engage in any other activity that the child likes and that you don’t usually engage in.
- Go out to a favorite place.
- Feature a “gala presentation” of the video you shot in the birthday party (assuming you did). In the last page of the file in this link I attached “cinema tickets” which you can use; I like to prepare them and give one to each family member beforehand.
The “auditorium” is the TV room, the “row” refers to the relevant sofa, and the “seat” to right/ left/ center. It’s really nice to attach (using Velcro) notes to the back of the “seats”, corresponding to the seats on the tickets. Use a pin to perforate the ticket and thus allow for the “theatre copy” to be detached. Enjoy!
