Beach Tropical
Where can you go for a tropical beach eco-vacation that is not too hot and buggy in August?

August is the only time my friend and I can go. But Mexico looks really hot and the Caribbean sounds full of mosquitoes. Is that true? We live in upstate NY and do not have too much money- we can’t go to Hawaii for example. We are not into big resorts and would prefer a quiet, uncrowded, eco-oriented, restful vacation. Any suggestions?

First off there are bugs everywhere. Do some research and go to a place that you can afford. ANY place that is tropical is going to be hot in August. Just bring some bug repellent and enjoy yourselves.

Even as greatest hits packages go, this is an utter gem. Christmas Island

Christmas Island

$0.74

It never snows in the Florida Keys, but as every Parrothead knows, Jimmy Buffett was born on Christmas Day 1946. His Caribbean folk tunes have always had a festive air to them, and his Coral Reefer Band tackle these holiday songs in their usual laidback style. Buffett turns out both traditional carols (“Jingle Bells” with a few tropical ad-libs) and his own myth-building originals (“A Sailor’s Chr…
