A couple of weeks ago, I wrote an article about Pepper Lunch, a restaurant I've found in Singapore where they serve half-cooked food in ultra-hot plates that the food will be cooked by itself right in front of you. In that same article, I said that I've heard a similar restaurant has opened in the newly-opened Trinoma (Triangle North of Manila) mall here in the Philippines. I promised you all that I would check it out, so here it is!
Cow for a logo. I wonder how this cow can be so happy if he knows he's gonna be served in a plate as hot as hell. ÜLast Thursday, Anne and I had our dinner at Sizzling Pepper Steak in Trinoma. What we found out is that it really is similar to Singapore's Pepper Lunch. It serves half-cooked steaks in sizzling plates. You have to stir your food for a couple of minutes before eating so as to make sure it's cooked even. Honestly, I think I still like Pepper Lunch better but it doesn't mean that Sizzling Pepper Steak is inconsiderable. I personally think that they serve great steak, freshly sizzled, at reasonable prices. Definitely a must-try. Ü
Steaks, pepper rice, and everything else. Sizzling Pepper Steak has a lot to offer.
The idiot's guide to pepper rice. Instructions on how to cook your food are promptly indicated in the placemats. Ü
Modern Asian. Sizzling Pepper Steak is owned by a Chinese entrepreneur but uses a modern Japanese ambience for his resto.
Beef Teriyaki Rice. I got this for myself. I had to wait for a couple of minutes before having my first bite though. When I say it's hot, I mean it.
Chicken Pepper Rice. Anne ordered this one. She said it was good, only too much food for a single serving. Not bad, I thought. Ü
Smoke free. Every table has this exhaust prodtruding from the ceiling. It makes sure that you don't suffocate yourself when your food is served.
I thought it was Teriyaki Boy. Sorry, but they seem to have a similar view from the outside.Sizzling Pepper Steak is located at the second level of Trinoma, in the veranda area. It opened last June 2007, a month after the soft opening of the mall itself. Ü
