For the love of anything beautiful.

My Parents Turn 25

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." - 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Twenty-five in the twenty-second. It's official - my parents, Bonnie & Sol, celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary last May 22, 2007.

May 22, 1982 - a navy lieutenant and a grade-school teacher tied the knot in the mysterious, enchanted town of Lucban, Quezon. Now, 25 years later in the same town, they have re-established the love that lasted more than two decades and reared a 22-year old boy into manhood.

A big congratulations to my parents, Mr. Bonifacio Nabos and Mrs. Soledad Maceo-Nabos, in celebrating their 25th Wedding Anniversary. In this world today where "commitment" has been a very misunderstood and overrated term, I can't help but feel very proud of them for getting this far. Everybody knew they would. And everybody knows they still would through the rest of their lifetime. Ü

It took us nearly a year to prepare for this event. And boy, it was a celebration. All our relatives from both my dad's and mom's clan were there. Their friends from now and then, my own set of friends, and our neighbors in Lucban all graced the event. The ceremonies were held at the Kamay ni Hesus Healing Church in Lucban, Quezon and were presided by Fr. Joey Faller and Fr. Celso Alcantara. The reception followed shortly after at the Kamayan sa Palaisdaan Restaurant in Tayabas, Quezon - a good 15-minute drive from Lucban.

Sharing with you random snapshots from this memorable event for my family:

Heartbreakingly solemn. My parents' ceremonies were nothing short of magical.

"Ito ang araw na ginawa ng Panginoon. Tayo'y magsaya at magalak." That's my friend, Mr. Norman Descartin, leading the Responsorial Psalm.

Renewing the vows. Fr. Joey and Fr. Celso helping my parents re-establish their bond.

Couples for sponsors. My parents, with their secondary sponsors. (from l-r) Mr. & Mrs. Larry Prologo, Mr. & Mrs. Edgar Maceo, and Mr. & Mrs. Norihiro Tanase.

Family pic. That's just half of the entire Maceo clan. Ü

Wacky! All my friends trying to pull off something funny for a pose. I want to thank all these guys for traveling all the way from Manila. Ü

The Kamayan sa Palaisdaan Restaurant. This is the reception venue. Situated at the boundary of Lucban and Tayabas, this countryside refuge offers hearty meals with a scenic ambience.

"My love for you will be forevermore..." That's us, serenading the guests with some acoustic OPM music. Ü

The Best Man, the Maid of Honor, and the couple. That's me, my childhood friend Anne, and my parents. Ü

Silver. My parents, striking one last poser at the Kamay ni Hesus Grotto. Best wishes and more power in getting to gold! Love you both! Ü
